IT’S BEEN A FEW YEARS SINCE I WENT TO THE TOP OF THE BUTTE…
It was a freezing day and I couldn’t see a lot, I always learn more by stopping by and reading the historic markers and talking with folks. I’ve probably gone by this marker in the village of Steptoe (population about 150) 20 times but today I stopped to read it and was surprised to find there used to be a lodge up there!
Like most of Whitman County and the Palouse; wheat is king as you can see from the grain silos.
I did a post a few weeks ago about the Battle of Steptoe in the town of Rosalia. It’s kinda interesting how they tried to rewrite the history when they built the monument.
