Remember Bugs Bunny's XXX flour?

Well it came from the Pataha Flour Mill right here along Highway 12 in Pataha as you can see on many of the old flour sacks on display.

The mill is now a work of love and faith by members of the community, and it’s certainly worth a tour or joining them for dinner. They also hold Sunday services here.

Now, this is not a bastion of Democratic Party supporters—I actually met the chair of the Garfield County Republicans here this morning—but that shouldn’t stop Democrats or Independents from from coming by.

It’s remarkable history and the mill was simply shut down a century ago when technology made it more practical to send wheat to modern flour mills in the cities. This meant that the mill didn’t get parted out and almost all of the mechanisms are still in place in a fantastic state of preservation.
And—yes—Lewis and Clark passed right through here.
I love coming out to meet people and learn about our communities.
