The American People are not Happy with the Direction of the Country

This race was not really an upset- but there was another Texas race that was a huge upset where Democrats took a reliably Republican seat in the state legislature. (I’ll post about it separately.)

 

What occurs to me is that Democratic Party leaders need to be careful not to assume they are doing something right - only that Republicans are doing things terribly, TERRIBLY wrong. Only 27% of registered Democrats approve of the DNC and Democratic Party leadership. The party relies on good luck and the train wreck that is the GOP to win rather than actually listening to the voters.

 

Rank and file Democrats need to demand better from the party so that we can win back the Congress in November on our merits rather than count on the GOP to keep entirely screwing up. The American people deserve outstanding leadership - not just the lowest common denominator.
